1. Pengertian Descriptive Text

Descriptive text adalah teks yang digunakan untuk menggambarkan seseorang, tempat, benda, atau hewan secara rinci. Tujuan dari descriptive text adalah memberikan informasi sehingga pembaca dapat membayangkan objek yang dijelaskan.

2. Tujuan (Purpose)

Tujuan utama descriptive text adalah:

• Mendeskripsikan suatu objek secara spesifik.
• Membantu pembaca memahami ciri-ciri fisik maupun karakteristik objek tersebut.

3. Struktur Teks (Generic Structure)

1. Identification
   Bagian ini berisi pengenalan tentang objek yang akan dideskripsikan.
   Contoh: “My school is one of the largest schools in my town.”
2. Description
   Bagian ini berisi penjelasan rinci mengenai ciri-ciri objek, seperti bentuk, ukuran, warna, sifat, atau karakteristik lainnya.
   Contoh: “It has a big yard, a modern library, and clean classrooms.”

4. Ciri Kebahasaan (Language Features)

• Using Simple Present Tense
  Contoh: She has long hair. The park is beautiful.
• Using adjectives (kata sifat)
  Contoh: beautiful, tall, big, clean, smart
• Using specific nouns
  Contoh: my cat, Borobudur Temple, my best friend
• Using detailed information
  Contoh: The building has three floors and twenty classrooms.

5. Contoh Descriptive Text

Example 1: Describing a Place – My School

Identification:
My school is a comfortable place where I study every day.

Description:
It has a large yard with many trees that make the environment fresh. The classrooms are clean and bright. There is also a library with many interesting books, a science laboratory, and a computer room. My school is a place where I feel happy to learn new things.

Example 2: Describing a Person – My Best Friend

Identification:
My best friend is Rina.

Description:
She is a cheerful and friendly girl. She has long black hair and bright eyes. She is good at drawing and always helps her classmates. Rina is loved by many friends because she is kind and patient.
